Brief Description of Event: A clinicopathologic conference was conducted by the department of Oral Medicine & Radiology on the topic- Diagnosis & Therapeutics Interventions for Oral Diseases.

The program commenced with welcoming of Dr. Puneet Ahuja, Principal BBDCODS, all the HOD’s, faculty members and post-graduates of different specialities by Dr. Soumya Jaiswal; post-graduate in the department of Oral Medicine & Radiology.
A brief introduction of the department was given by Dr. Saurabh Srivastava, Reader in the department where he highlighted on the facilities available in both medicine as well as radiology section of the department. He also elaborated on the achievements of faculty members and the post-graduates in the past five years of the academic sessions along with their completed & the ongoing research works.


Following introduction a plethora of interesting clinical cases were taken up by the various postgraduates. The first section comprised of Tobacco induced pathologies which was presented by Dr. Vartika Srivastava (JR II) & Dr. Yashi Yadav (JR II) where along with their diagnosis, investigations and treatment planning special emphasis was given to the counselling of the patients to cease the tobacco abusive habits which are detrimental to the overall health of an individual. Second section of the cases comprised of non-healing ulcers and malignancy
where a prompt referral for advanced investigations and treatment planning was discussed by Dr. Ashish Sengar (JR III). Third section of the cases had emphasis on immunological and stress mediated pathologies which were discussed by Dr. Priya Shandilya (JR III).


In the next section of the clinico-pathologic meet the latest add on in the radiology section of the department that is Cone Beam Computed Tomography was introduced by Dr. Priya Singh, Reader in the department where she elaborated on the importance of three-dimensional
radiographic modalities in the precise diagnosis and better treatment planning and prognosis of the osseous pathologies. She briefed about the functioning of the CBCT machine, its indications and advantages. She even presented some interesting CBCT images elaborating the axial, coronal and sagittal sections of the bone.

The last section of the cases was presented by Dr. Soumya Jaiswal where CBCT had been utilized to show the exact extension and effect of the osseous pathology to the adjoining anatomical structures. At the end of the series of cases Dr. Deepak U, Prof.& HOD Department of Oral medicine & Radiology concluded with emphasis on proper diagnosis, investigations and treatment planning in the patients. He also further emphasized the advantages of 3-D imaging in dentistry and motivated the post graduates of other specialities to advise CBCT in
better prognosis of their patients. He even invited questions from the audience and answered them satisfactorily.

progressive cases for giving better treatment to the patients and thus enhancing the quality of life in an individual.

The conference concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Priya Singh, where she extended her gratitude to Principal, HOD’s and all the faculty members for their valuable inputs in the various cases presented. She even appreciated the efforts of all the postgraduates and
radiographer Mr. Ravikant in the successful completion of the CPC.
